Participating in Student Groups
Student groups are an integral part of the academic and social life of the Law School. The Center frequently partners with the Yale Law & Business Society and the Yale Journal on Regulation on programming and other opportunities for students.
The Yale Law and Business Society (YLBS)
Since 2006, YLBS has connected Yale Law School students interested in corporate law, business, entrepreneurship, corporate social responsibility, and regulation. Throughout the academic year, YLBS presents a series of lectures and workshops and organizes networking events and programs to support the academic and professional interests of its members. The Center works closely with YLBS on programming and YLBS co-sponsors the Marvin A. Chirelstein Colloquium series and other Center events.
The Center also collaborates with YLBS on special opportunities for students. For example, the Center worked with YLBS to choose four students to participate in the first transactional negotiation competition sponsored by the M&A Committee of the American Bar Association.

Joel Greenberg ’74, Senior Counsel at Arnold & Porter and former Chair of the Committee, coached the students on a private company asset purchase agreement. The students represented one side of the transaction and identified issues and submitted comments.

The competition culminated with students traveling to Laguna Beach, CA to participate in the Annual Meeting of the ABA M&A Committee. They networked with M&A practitioners from all over the country, including Leo Strine, Chief Justice of the Delaware Supreme Court (2014-2019) and Of Counsel, Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, and Lori Will, Vice Chancellor of the Delaware Court of Chancery.

The Yale Journal on Regulation
JREG was established in 1983 and has since become one of the top ten specialized law journals in the United States. Published twice a year, it provides in-depth scholarly articles by academics and practitioners on a variety of topics on which the Center also focuses, such as corporate and securities law, financial regulation, antitrust and competition, bankruptcy, and tax.
The Center collaborates with JREG on events, such as the popular Women in Corporate Law panel, which takes place annually. Center Board member Elina Tetelbaum ’10, Corporate Partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, leads three Wachtell associates of varying seniority in a no-holds-barred discussion on building and sustaining a career in corporate law.
The Center also sponsors symposia with JREG, which feature academic insight on important legal questions. For example, JREG and the Center most recently explored what financial regulation should look like in the 21st Century.
